Torres del Paine ao nascer do sol

Chilean Patagonia is a place for those who want a complete experience in nature.

It has fjords, mountains, snow-capped mountains, valleys and deserts. You can ski, explore snow-capped mountains, visit pristine lakes.

Enjoy everything from the sea to high mountains all in one place.

We started in the city of Puerto Natales, which is the starting point for the Torres del Paine National Park, which is one of the best trails in the world.

The city is very small and the only attraction is the port for boats that tour the fjords.

We arrived from Al Calafate in Argentine Patagonia.

And we prepared ourselves for the Torres del Paine O circuit trail.

After the trail, we rested for a day in Puerto Natales and our group split up.

Alessandro, who has been accompanying me on this adventure until now, has returned to Brazil.

I was going to Ushuaia alone, but Gabriel decided to accompany me.

The other members each went their separate ways.

We took a bus to Punta Arenas. The bus takes 3 hours and costs around US$10.00.

Punta Arenas

In Chilean Patagonia, the city of Punta Arenas is a landmark.

We visited the city and one of the local tours is to go to Magdalena Island to see the penguins.

The penguin population is approximately 150,000 per year.

They are used to people visiting and are calm with the crowds, although it is undeniable that the habitat is disturbed.

On the same island, you can visit the Lighthouse, which has photographs of the different types of penguins that inhabit Patagonia.

Road to Ushuaia

The road to Ushuaia is very long, 11 hours, including crossing the Strait of Magellan and then crossing the Chile/Argentina border.

Strait of Magellan

I have always been curious about these passages between oceans and I plan to visit them later.

For those who don’t know, it is a navigable passage between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

It is 600 km long and is a natural passage and is located between the continent (South America) and Tierra del Fuego.

Due to the winds, the crossing can be quite turbulent, but it is very short.

It took us almost 1 hour to cross the border, a lot of bureaucracy but without any major problems.

Now it’s time to return to Argentine Patagonia and continue on to Ushuaia.

We’re still halfway there.
