On this trip, I sought what remains of the raw and real in this corner of Ceará. I left preconceptions aside and immersed myself in simplicity. Luxury here is not what you buy, but the connection you make with the place and with the people.

The atmosphere at the top of the dune is one of pure celebration and gratitude. As soon as the sun disappears, it’s common to hear collective applause. You’ll feel a contagious energy and a profound peace as you watch the colors of the sky change from orange to purple.
Pierced Stone (Pedra furada)
Pedra Furada is Jericoacoara’s most famous postcard image. It’s a rock formation sculpted by wave erosion over centuries. A walk along the beach to reach it during low tide reveals smaller caves and incredible natural pools.
Upon arriving at the rock, you will feel the grandeur of nature. The sound of the waves crashing against the rocks creates a relaxing soundtrack. Therefore, arrive early to avoid the photo queues and take the opportunity to meditate before the ocean.
Paradise Lagoon
This lagoon is famous for its colorful hammocks within the crystal-clear water. The blue of the water varies with depth, creating a stunning gradient. Furthermore, the beach clubs surrounding it offer complete comfort for those who want to spend the day relaxing.

How to get to Jericoacoara
Reaching paradise requires planning, but the options have improved significantly in recent years.
- Plane: Jericoacoara Regional Airport (Jijoca) is the fastest option. It receives direct flights from major capital cities. Another alternative is to fly to Fortaleza and continue by land.
- Bus: There are regular bus lines departing from Fortaleza. The trip takes about seven hours. So, be prepared for a long journey, but with beautiful scenery.
- Car: If you are driving your own car or a rental car, you will need to leave it in a parking lot in Jijoca. Only authorized vehicles are allowed in the village of Jericoacoara. The final stretch between Jijoca and the village must be done in a 4×4 vehicle.

How to get around in Jericoacoara

- Public transportation:There are no city buses within the village. Local transport is provided by “jardineiras,” which are adapted 4×4 vehicles that take tourists to the lagoons and neighboring villages.
- Taxis and apps:There are no Ubers or regular taxis. Private transportation is provided by licensed 4×4 pickup trucks. They are ideal for groups seeking comfort and speed in their external travel.
